2025 ANA World’s Fair of Money - “Show Pandas”
The American Numismatic Association is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to educating and encouraging people to study and collect coins and related items. The ANA serves the academic community, collectors and the general public with an interest in numismatics. Each year, the ANA hosts one of the largest numismatic shows in the world – the World’s Fair of Money - at a location in the continental United States. The first ANA World’s Fair of Money was in 1891 – making this year the 133rd anniversary of the first convention.
Why a Panda Coin?
“Show Pandas” have a long and prestigious history within the numismatic community as sought-after collectibles from numismatic conventions and events around the world. The earliest Show Pandas date as far back as the mid-1980s.
This year’s ANA Show Panda Proof is officially licensed and struck for the 134th ANA World’s Fair of Money held at the Oklahoma City Convention Center from August 19-23, 2025. This is the first time in the convention’s history that it will take place in Oklahoma City. The 2025 ANA Show Pandas series is being released with a very limited mintage, and GOVMINT and its marketing partners are the only distributors for this handsome medal series.
FIRST-EVER ANA Show Panda Struck in the U.S.
Due to the current, volatile geopolitical climate, China permitted the ANA Show Panda Proofs to be struck in the U.S. for the first time in the history of the Show Panda. The Osborne Mint, the oldest private mint is the U.S., was selected to strike the ANA Show Panda for this historic first!
The 2025-dated “Show Panda” commemoratives are struck in ½ oz .999 gold, 2 oz .999 silver, 1 oz .999 silver, and 1 oz silver-plated copper. The gold and silver iterations feature a Proof finish; and the packaging includes a numbered certificate of authenticity and story card. Each silver-plated piece is struck in 1oz of copper, plated with silver, and selectively colorized. Premier pieces will be graded and encapsulated by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC).
The mintages are:
- 188 units (1/2 oz gold)
- 888 units (2 oz silver)
- 1,888 units (1 oz silver)
- 2,448 units (silver plated copper, selectively colorized) – this represents length of Route 66!
Because the show is being held in Oklahoma City for the first time ever, the designs celebrate with a little whimsy! The obverse design for the ½ oz gold and 2 oz silver features a mother panda bear eating bamboo, while her cub rolls on the ground, munching on leaves. Also on the obverse are the logo of the American Numismatic Association, the date, and the specifications of the round. The design is the work of China Mint designer Mr. Bo Liao, who was the engraver of the 2015 Moon Festival Panda Kilo Silver design!
The obverse design for the 1 oz silver, and 1 oz silver-plated copper shows a panda bear riding in a vintage convertible down Oklahoma’s famous section of Route 66. The Route 66 sign is colorized in red, white, and blue. The panda sits in front of the skyline of Oklahoma City and next to an oil derrick and windmill, classic symbols of the state. Also on the obverse are the logo of the American Numismatic Association, the date, and the specifications.
The common reverse for all the rounds features the inscription “ANA World’s Fair of Money 2025” in English and Mandarin Chinese. The design also includes assorted symbols associated with Oklahoma: the state shape outline, state flag, state flower (Oklahoma Roses), and an American Plains Bison.
Where to Purchase
The Show Pandas can be purchased at the 2025 ANA World's Fair of Money, and exclusively from GovMint and its marketing partners.
