On May 17, 2024 the inaugural Kid Rock’s “Rock N’ Rodeo” took place at AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event, which celebrated the tradition of rodeo with six different teams competing, also hosted a series of concerts between events, featuring rock, country, and hip-hop. Mega-hit song maker, Kid Rock, performed as the final act.Osborne Mint had the absolute privilege of creating special medals that were given to the riders and performers to commemorate their participation in this inaugural event. The 39mm coins were one ounce of pure silver with .9999 karat gold plating. The obverse featured Kid Rock singing and the Professional Bull Rider’s shield for the Rock N’ Rodeo. The reverse projected an image of the spirit of rodeo – a cowboy on the back of a bucking bronco - with a bust of Kid Rock smoking a cigar showing that the “Rock N’ Rodeo” brought all the swagger one would expect from an event featuring Kid Rock.
Osborne Mint created 1,050 medals with a frosted finish for everyone involved in the event to receive. 35 medals were made with contrasting finishes to be inset in a much larger gold medal of the same design. These medals, complimented by a larger-than-life gold chain, were worn by the champions of the event. While Osborne was not the creator of the larger medals, seeing our work as part of the champion’s award ceremony was awesome.
While only event attendees could buy one of these medallions, Osborne Mint was honored to craft a medal held by competitors and champions alike for one-of-a-kind event.
